Direct Editing

get, set, and unset read and write one config field directly, by path — without going through a preset or the sync/conflict machinery. set/unset deliberately leave the manifest untouched: a manual edit is exactly the kind of thing that should show up as a conflict on the next sync, not be silently absorbed.

The tool named in a path is resolved to its actual config file via .lintsync/manifest.json — run lintsync init (or otherwise register the tool in the manifest) before using these commands.

Path syntax

A path is the tool name, then bracket-notation field segments (lodash/JS-property-access style): eslint.rules.no-console. Use brackets with quotes for a segment containing a dot, a bracket, or that you'd rather quote explicitly:

bash
eslint.rules["vue/multi-word-component-names"]
eslint.rules["@typescript-eslint/no-unused-vars"]

A path must have at least two segments — the tool name alone (lintsync get eslint) is rejected as an error.

Reading a value

lintsync get <path> reads one value straight from a tracked config file.

bash
lintsync get prettier.printWidth
lintsync get 'eslint.rules["@typescript-eslint/no-unused-vars"]'

Prints the value bare (unquoted) when it's a string, and as JSON otherwise.

Options

--cwd <path>

Project directory. Default: the current directory.

--json

Machine-readable output.

--quiet

Print only the exit code on error — note this is a different meaning of --quiet than set/unset below, which suppress output on success instead.

Writing a value

lintsync set <path> <value> writes one value directly, without touching the manifest.

bash
lintsync set eslint.rules.no-unused-vars off
lintsync set prettier.printWidth 100
lintsync set eslint.rules.no-unused-vars '["warn", {"argsIgnorePattern": "^_"}]'

The value is parsed as JSON when it's valid JSON (100 → the number 100, true → the boolean, ["warn", {...}] → a real array), and used as a plain string otherwise (off → "off") — no manual quoting needed for the common case.

Options

--cwd <path>

Project directory. Default: the current directory.

--json

Machine-readable output.

--quiet

Suppress output on success.

Removing a field

lintsync unset <path> removes a field entirely.

bash
lintsync unset stylelint.rules.color-no-invalid-hex

Options

--cwd <path>

Project directory. Default: the current directory.

--json

Machine-readable output.

--quiet

Suppress output on success.
